Thank you to Valerie Holloway, President of your Board of Trustees for hosting and facilitating the Town Hall last Sunday. She provided a lot of good information and there were a number of great questions asked and answered. The slides from the Town Hall are available here. Unfortunately, a problem arose in the recording of the Town Hall, so it is not available as previously mentioned.

It certainly seems like Hurricane season here in Central Florida with the whirlwind of activity of our relocation from 2401 N Harbor City Blvd to our new space, 2190 Sarno Road, in the Bowe Garden Shopping Center, at the corner of Sarno Road and Croton Road. This same complex includes Brevard Health, Eckerd Connects, Southern Sisters restaurant, Sarno Restaurant & Pizzeria, and many other tenants.

The current occupant, TrueLife Church, is wrapping up their move to a new space.  So, for us, the behind the scenes work with the trades are getting scheduled to begin painting, cleaning, installing the internal network, and such, that is approximately 2 weeks away.

Preparations for the Open House (soft opening) for Saturday, Oct 14th is also in high gear. Your Board of Trustees have invited Councilwoman Mimi Hanley, Melbourne District 5, who has already accepted.  Invitations are being sent to other local business and spiritual leaders to visit our new space.

A huge THANK YOU for the continued support in the effort to prepare for our move and liquidation sale: Mickey, Bernard, Bob, and Barbara, for their work in the “Sell Room”, Ben for his work in the removal of wall-mounted televisions and his preparatory work in removing the engraved memorial bricks. Thanks also to Barbara who is painting the individual room name signs (more on that later).

Vashti Saint Germain has been immersed in working with other graphic designers in the creation of banners for the Sanctuary that articulate each of the 12 Powers, as identified by Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore, and designing a “historical” perspective of Unity.

Cheryl Lindner, our Director of Youth & Family Ministries continues to consolidate the myriad of youth materials, and Judy Langan, our Accounting Manager continues to compile the files we are required to hold and eliminate those we may release as well as change of address notifications.

In my role of Director of Operations, I’m working to coordinate all the activities (i.e. working with the City of Melbourne’s Planning and Development Department and Fire Inspection Team) and identify what remains to be done (some of which will be covered this Sunday with the lesson, “How To Make God Laugh” as I will be providing the Sunday message.

Prayers are welcome as the work continues and time gets shorter, and I thank you for your patience and willingness to let this move “play-out”. I appreciate the willingness expressed by so many to help, and as we need the help, I’ll certainly be asking.

As of this moment, I am asking for assistance in the scheduled “Chair Rodeo”, currently planned for Wednesday, Oct 11. This “Chair Rodeo” will align the Sanctuary chairs in rows in the new Sanctuary. It doesn’t sound like much work and will take no more than an hour or 2, but it is necessary prior to the Fire Inspector issuing the required “Certificate To Occupy”.

  • Thursday, Sep 28th, Landlord walk-through of 2190 Sarno and obtain keys
  • Thursday, Sep 28th, New chair seat backs and cushions arrive
