This Weeks Update

The activity surrounding our upcoming move to our new space seems to be kicked into a higher gear.

With knowing the dates to move, there is coordination of what we’ll need in the new space, scheduling various trades (painters, IT, security, cleaners) to transform the space into “ours”.

Vashti Saint Germain has been working tirelessly in setting the “visual tone” for the space, and like any manager worth a darn, my job is to get out of the way and let her do her magic! I also want to thank Ben LaMons, Mickey Moda, Bernard DelBene, Ben LaMons, Bob Schwartztol, and Barbara Harris for their work in this effort. Our Youth & Family Ministries Director, Cheryl Lindner and Accounting Director Judy Langan have been very busy with sorting, packing, and preparing for the move. Thank you all for your efforts.

I find my days coordinating with the City of Melbourne (Business Tax Receipt and inspections), to coordinating the painters, cleaners, relocation of the memorial bench, engraved bricks, organ, piano and internet installation. A thousand million gazillion (yes, that’s an actual Project Manager number) details, and I appreciate the support of so many.

A reminder of the “soft-opening” the Board will be hosting at our new space is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 14th, from noon-2pm.

The 1st worship service in our new space will be Sunday, Oct 15th.

If you’re concerned as to why we have not announced the actual address of the new space, it’s for one simple reason. The current occupant (also a church) is in their relocation process of moving to a new space and they are working very hard to move their furnishings. It’s my understanding that this coming Sunday, Sep 17th will be their last Sunday in that space, so they can focus on the relocation. Once I have been advised they are no longer holding services, we’ll announce the location.

I affirm the architectural drawing below of our new space will temporarily suffice the thirst for more information.

You’ll notice the handwritten names in many of the rooms. Instead of numbering the individual rooms, we’ve decided to give the rooms a “name”; “Peace”, “Light”, “Hope”, and “Joy”. For those interested in helping us to paint the wood letters for these signs, please email me (randy@unityofmelbourne.com).

I strongly encourage everyone to attend the Town Hall, hosted by your Board of Trustees, this Sunday, Sep 17th immediately following the Sunday worship service.

The Town Hall will NOT be live streamed but will be recorded and a video will be made available at the conclusion of the meeting.

Should you have any questions, please ask me.
